Sakamoto Ryoma (1836-1867)

He was a famous influential Japanese Heroic Samurai . His life was short by assassination at the age of 31, but his legacy is forever . Sakamoto Ryoma was born on the Island of Shikoku in 1836 . At the age of 14 years old he took up Kendo , thanks to this discipline he became a master swordman .


The division between the low class samurai and high class Samurai where he grew up . In that time low class like Sakamoto and his friends hated that upper level of Samurais . They wanted to be powerful .

In 1853 Japan was pressure into signing the " Convention of Kanagawa " Sakamoto was pissed off from being pushed around by the high level class Samurai and getting pushed around by foreigner too much was too. A good samurai like Sakamoto were eager to expel the foreign barbarians taking advantage of Japan. In 1858 he finished his studies and in 1862 he joined his friend in the Tosa Loyalist Party .

During the Meiji restauration a sucession of events helped to restored the Imperial's rules to Japan under the meiji Emperor . The restoration allowed many changes in the political and social structure of Japan . This period ended until 1912 the country was a modernized nation .

In 1867 Sakamoto was assassinated in Kyoto , just before the restoration of Japan began.


His Legacy :

He wanted a modern Japan and he wanted to unified the country . All his dreams came true . He took inspirations from another countries . He made a plan to break down class barriers and unite the country as one nation .
