The "Bakufu" means a military goverment that ruled Japan from 1192 to 1867 except in the 14th century when the emperor ruled. This term also means general headquarters , but used historically for a national goverment headed by a " Shogun" means a militar rank and the historical title of the feudal administrator who served as emprerors military and actual ruler of Japan from the 12th until the 19th Century . The title of Shogun the rank was equivalent to general as the highest officer in an army . In that time the imperial court of Kyoto award this title first to the leaders .
