Must See ‘Lightsaber and Seki’s Swordsmiths’

To celebrate the release of ‘Star Wars : The Last Jedi’‘, a special exhibition ‘Lightsaber and Seki’s swordsmiths’ is held at Seki Traditional Swordsmith Museum.
Seki’s prominent swordsmiths titled the 25th and 26th Fujiwara Kanefusa produced a special Japanese sword for this exhibition. The motif for the sword is Rey’s lightsaber, so the sword was named 来人勢刃 in Chinese characters, which can be pronounced ‘lightsaber’.
In this exhibition, the sword 来人勢刃 as well as visuals of characters, trailers, a life-size figure of stormtrooper and more are on display.
The sword’s blade is modeled after that of the lightsaber with its groove filled with blue paint, which represents the luminous blade. The sword also has the same handle as that of Rey’s lightsaber.
They say that many symbolic items of Star Wars have been influenced by Japanese cultures. The Japanese sword 来人勢刃 can be said to be the perfect fusion of Star Wars and Japanese swordsmiths’ craftsmanship. Both Japanese sword fans and Star Wars fans can enjoy the exhibition.
